Kanna Kunchala
City YearKanna Kunchala is Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Business Officer at City Year, where he leads the teams responsible for Finance, Operations, Recruitment, Marketing, Human Resources, and Strategy.
Kanna’s career spans public service, global finance, and nonprofit leadership. He first joined City Year as a Boston corps member in 1994, the inaugural year of AmeriCorps, and later served on staff in the organization’s communications department. He then worked at the Boston Redevelopment Authority, supporting the city’s planning and economic development agenda.
After earning his MBA, Kanna spent more than a decade in the private sector at Goldman Sachs and Barclays, building and leading international and emerging‑market equity derivatives businesses in Chicago and London. Since rejoining City Year full‑time in 2017, Kanna has brought together his public, private, and nonprofit experience to strengthen the organization’s financial sustainability, operating model, and long‑term strategy. He is one of the few individuals to have served City Year as a corps member, staff member, donor, corporate sponsor, and board member.
Kanna holds a BA in English literature from Harvard College and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He lives in Lexington, Massachusetts, with his wife Jill and their three children.
