Camp Harbor View (CHV) sits on 12 Acres on Long Island in Boston Harbor
Culture is based on the core values: Fun, Respect, Responsibility, Courage, Character, and Community. Camp operates with the motto “1, 2, 3 Lead!” to represent these values.
Programming revolves around Five Key Areas: Leadership, Aquatics, Sports & Fitness, The Arts, and Knowledge Is Power.
Operates 12 months a year. From June – August headquarters are located on Long Island in the Boston Harbor. From September – May, Camp Harbor View operates out of the center in Roxbury.
Accepts close to 900 campers from Boston, ages 11- 14, per summer. Once in the Camp Harbor View family, campers have limitless access to year-round programming and social services free of charge.
Campers provided with apparel, transportation to and from camp, and three meals a day.
Campers recruited from numerous agencies with an emphasis on at-risk neighborhoods and low income families, as well as Boston Public Schools and Charter Schools.
90 summer staff and eight year-round staff.
Leaders in Training (LIT) program is a year round component of Camp Harbor View for which 80 alumni campers ages 15 – 17 interview for and are chosen to participate in each year.
LIT program focuses on leadership development, mentoring, educational support, social support, and career readiness.
Camp Harbor View Scholarship Program awards qualifying LITs pursuing post-secondary education with a scholarship of up to $10,000, renewable for up to four years.
Monthly reunion events, mentoring, weekly activities, clubs, parent support groups and workshops, and social services are offered from the Roxbury center year round.
Camp Harbor View social work team provides complimentary support services to campers and their families.
