Counseling Services

All services are completely confidential. We will not share any information about you or our work with you without your written consent.

Individual Therapy

If you or one of your children is having trouble dealing with anger, a loss, feeling down, or a range of other emotions, then individual counseling could serve as a great resource for any member in your family. You will help to tailor counseling to your specific needs.

Family Therapy

We find that most problems exist between family members, rather than just in one or the other in a conflict. We can help family members begin to work together against a problem, instead of working against each other.

Crisis Intervention

Difficult situations happen all the time in family life. We can be there for your family and help you use your family’s strength to get through the tough times.

Resource Matching

Have you ever wondered who to call when you are experiencing stress related to meeting your basic needs? Although we do not provide direct assistance programs, we can help you figure out who to call and how to make a plan around seeking out resources.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do these services cost?

All CHV social work services are 100% free. We do not bill insurance, and have no financial requirements whatsoever.

Social Workers make me nervous. Do you work for the Department of Children and Families (DCF)?

We work solely for Camp Harbor View, which means our responsibility lies within our organization only. Like all youth workers, we are mandated reporters, but we work directly for you for as long as you need us. You have complete control over the length of time you use our services.

How about if I have too many problems? I’d call, but I don’t even know where to start!

Give us a call, and we can decide on where to start together. Often, we’re able to help in multiple areas at once.

What about confidentiality? Will working with you affect being able to come back next summer/be an LIT next summer?

Absolutely not! Our social work staff only shares information within the social work team for supervision and professional advice. We don’t even share the fact that we’re working with you with anyone, unless you ask us to. We ask parents to respect the confidentiality of conversations we have with children. Of course, if we are concerned about the safety of your child or someone in their life, we will be sure to promptly communicate this information and select the proper course of action to keep all parties safe. Examples of these situations would include threats to hurt others or a plan to hurt oneself.

What do services look like?

CHV provides brief interventions with youth attending camp and via phone with CHV families. Throughout the school-year programming (September through May) we provide a variety of counseling and intervention services. You can give us a call or send an email to inquire or request services. We will arrange a meeting at a time that works for your schedule. After this initial meeting, you can decide how you want to proceed with services.

Contact Us

You are welcome to contact the social work team either by phone or email. However, we are most likely to check our voicemail/email M-F, 10AM- 6PM.
